As a company, we’ve been helping business owners create and manage WordPress websites since 2006. Formerly known as eleven82, we rebranded as Neur (pronounced New • er) and was incorporated in the state of Illinois in 2013. We’re located in Lombard, Illinois, approximately 30 minutes west of Chicago which is where all our design and development occurs.
At Neur, we believe it’s our mission to make it easier for you to manage your website. Good Web Design is Good Business
One of our past clients, Athletics Ontario, is a prime example of how beneficial redesigning your website can be. The organization came to us with an outdated website that was slow loading and clunky. Staff found the website difficult to use and they had to enter the same information in multiple areas and did not like the way their events were displayed on the frontend of the site. Their goal was to have a site that was more visually appealing and easy to use for staff and visitors.
Our solution was to develop a responsive, fast-loading website with a user-friendly backend. This allowed their staff to add, update or create posts or pages without needing to understand HTML. We were able to create a custom solution in their WordPress admin panel that allowed them an easier way to manage their event data and designed the user-facing frontend to display only what the site owners wanted. This project took a total of 12 weeks to be completed. When the redesign project was finished, the average monthly website views for Athletics Ontario increased by 388% to more than 35,000 visitors per month.
What to Expect with Website Design & Development
Your website visitors expect your site to load quickly and correctly no matter what device you are on. More than half of all traffic to websites comes from mobile devices, but desktop users continue to spend more time on websites making it crucial that your website functions across all devices and screen sizes.
All Neur web design and development projects start with a WordPress website that is optimized for desktop and mobile simultaneously. This allows you to update the information on your site once and have it work on all devices. Once completed, your new site will be ready to welcome visitors while being easy for you to manage and maintain.
Before
Before we begin working on your project, we’ll host a kickoff meeting. This is an opportunity for you to share with us design ideas and functionality requests. It can be very helpful to bring examples of websites that you find appealing or styles that you like. It’s a good idea to have the style of your website match the industry you’re in or the demographic you are targeting so you may want to check out competitor websites for inspiration. In addition to talking about style and how the website will look, we’ll also discuss function. Are you wanting to add an ecommerce platform? Would you like to be able to announce sales or promotions with a website pop-up? Our kickoff meeting will help us create the plan to design according to your specific wishes.
During
After the kickoff meeting, we’ll start the design and review process. This is the longest part of the process and we’ll work closely together during this time. As we create designs for your new website, we’ll send them to you for your comments and approval. Timing on this is key as we’ll continue to design and edit in tandem. To ensure your project is completed in a timely fashion, we ask that any design feedback be given within three days of receiving the mockup and Neur will request two days from you to make changes. This process will then continue for as long as required to design all website pages to your satisfaction.
Once the designs are approved, Neur will begin turning these visuals into real, functional webpages. Again, timing is important in this stage. We ask that all feedback or approvals be made within three days and Neur will implement the changes within an additional three days. We will continue with the process of “create, review, approve” until you are satisfied with the project.
Once your website is created, it’s time for testing and onboarding. The Neur team will test your website on a variety of devices and operating systems to ensure it looks great and functions properly on all platforms. We will work with you to schedule an onboarding meeting that will teach you how to perform routine tasks and maintenance on your new website. On average, a custom-built website will take about 12 weeks while one based around a premium theme will take around 6 weeks. The total time to completion will vary based on the amount of pages and level of customization required.
After
After your website is launched on the production servers, it’s live to the world. Neur will go through and test the site to ensure everything is functioning as expected. While your site will be designed so that you are easily able to maintain and run it, Neur does offer additional website SEO and managed WordPress services if you are interested in additional website management.
