WordPress comments allow your visitors to have a discussion with you and other visitors to the site. It opens up communication and allows everyone to add their input, ask questions or provide feedback. Comments can be a great feature on your blog posts but what if you don’t want users to leave comments?

Turn Off WordPress Comments Sitewide
- After you’ve logged into your WordPress admin, you’ll want to:
- Visit Settings > Discussion
- Under Default Article Settings uncheck “Allow people to post comments on new articles”
- Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page
My Old Posts Still Have Comments
The posts already published with comments will not be affected by the steps above because the steps above are for new posts only. To remove comments from published posts, you’ll want to:
- Visit Settings > Discussion
- Under Default Article Settings check “Automatically close comments on articles older than 14 days and change 14 to 0
- Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page
WordPress comments should be completely removed from your website now.
